How will Chiropractic adjustments help you?

Chiropractic adjustments and mobilisations

Chiropractic adjustments, or joint manipulation are techniques used by professional chiropractors in conjunction with other treatment modalities. Our Chiropractors perform HVLA diversified, drop piece, and joint mobilisation techniques in our clinic.

Our chiropractors are trained to use their hands on skills, along with specific diagnostic testing to identify joint restrictions, decrease range of motion and functional movement patterns.

Our Chiropractors complete a thorough history and physical assessment to diagnose and create an individualised treatment for each patient. This treatment may include joint or spinal mobilisation or manipulation, along with numerous other techniques. These may often include soft tissue therapy, cupping therapy, dry needling, injury specific rehab and more.

Common questions around chiropractic adjustments:

  • Will the chiropractic adjustment hurt? No, the adjustment should not cause any pain. We always want to ensure you are fully relaxed, with limited muscle guarding before any adjustment. The high velocity thrust may cause a noise and movement, which can at times be new for patients. We will always ensure adjustments are a safe and correct choice for your treatment.

  • Do I have to have the '“cracking'“? No, there are many different techniques to promote increased movement in a joint. Joint mobilisation may be a better option for yourself.

  • What does the cracking actually do? As trained and licensed chiropractors, we are able to palpate a joints end range. When we adjust a restricted joint, we will lock a joint out at its end range and perform a high velocity low amplitude thrust into the joint, in order to increase or restore movement. This will regain range of motion, decrease pain and release associated muscular tension.

  • Is the chiropractic adjustment going to fix my pain? This depends. Typically, no, as the pain is caused from a multitude of musculoskeletal structures, caused from underlying conditions or faulty movement patterns. We use adjustments in conjunction with other treatment techniques.
